White Broilers

There are alternatives to the standard meat hybrid.
A Red Broiler is known to have fewer leg and heart problems,
but that may be largely dependent on feed and housing.

We use our birds for both meat and eggs.
And though the eggs are typical for well treated, outdoor birds,
the meat is unlike what most people are accustomed to.
The breast meat is diminutive in comparison to grocery store chicken,
and the legs and thighs are dark.

There are virtually no choices when it comes to buying chicken.
The best bet is to see the birds and their living space before they are processed.
Then, at least, you know exactly what you are eating.
